Being a proud parent, I feel very strongly that the whole meaning, taste and feel of Christmas has been totaly overshadowed and indeed undermined by commercialism. I base this disgruntlement upon the memories of the Christmas days of my childhood. Thinking back, with a twinge of nostalgia, I feel a warm glow from the memories. My children do not have these memories as theirs are still being made and all I can hope for is to provide them with ones that will warm their futures in the ever changing environment that they will face. Whatever your personal beliefs, I hope that you will be able to embrace this festive season with your families and friends whilst negotiating your way through the paths of commerce. The escence of Christmas is the personal contact and fellowship. Gifts were just meant as tokens of appreciation. Enjoy this festive period, make memories and remember, next year everyone will be a year older !!
